This is the perfect shirt. Fits way better than the tri-blend shirt due to the tighter collar and shorter overall length.

I just recently started buying from AA because I was looking for plain colored t-shirts with no logos that were still quality products. So far I've purchased three of these poly-cotton crew necks and three fine jersey short sleeve t-shirts and these are by far my favorite. The material is soft to the touch and very comfortable. They don't shrink and the colors don't fade like they do with cheaper brand shirts which to me makes these worth the price. I am 6'2" and 190lbs and large fits me perfectly. I will definitely be buying more of these in the future.

I have 6 of these tees - they're the absolute best in terms of fit (slim and long - seriously, AA seems to be one of the few places that does this, normally it's slim and very, very short...), quality ( I have one of these I bought in 2007 that is worn regularly that is still just about alive) and colours (get all the heather ones).

I have more expensive tees, but these are the ones I always go for, and will continue to go for, again and again

Just restock Heather Grey please!

Eve though the Fine Jersey short sleeve T-shirt is great, for me nothing beats wearing the poly cotton crew neck. Slim fit, nice lenght( big fan of the lenght) and keeps the color nicely. Best T-shirt ever owned. AA you have the best basic T-shirts on the market. Nice job again. I wear a small

i bought three of these bad boys plus one of the 100% cotton ones, so i could compare. the all cotton is very good, but these poly/cotton blend ones are the dog's bollocks. very lightweight, soft, well fitting. i hate to think of all the years i spent wearing inferior t-shirts. these are worth every hard-earned nickle and dime.

Wondering if someone could help me out. I love the fit of the summer shirt but the white in particular I find gets worn out very quickly, and turns almost see through (I wear white very often ha ha). Does anyone have any experience with the white in this fabric and how well it holds up?

To the girl below me, I'm 6'2 167lbs, And i wear a medium in this T.. Soo haha if that's any indicator, you probably should have gotten an XS or S.
Because these aren't super tight shirts or anything, they're fitted, but not uncomfortably tight, and a medium is probably good for anyone 5'10- and up.

Based on everyone else's reviews, I decided to order a size up (Medium)... which I probably shouldn't have. I'm 5'5, 120 lbs and wear a 34b cup. (ordered the guy's because they have more colors!) Tried it on before washing and fit almost exactly the same as after I washed it. It fits kind of like a big t-shirt that you would wear to bed. I have a pretty long torso and it still covers almost half my butt. I think I'm going to order another one (in Small this time!) so it would look OK to wear outside of the house. Fabric is VERY high quality and VERY soft. Would recommend to anyone... but don't order up a size!

what size t should i get?

I'm 6'2", 180lbs, long torso, athletic build. This shirt is the best fitting tee I've bought in a very long time. the only shirt that doesn't "tent out" around the waist area. Before I bought it I looked at reviews, and guys with my same build were buying mediums.... I'd recommend going with the large the length is a bit long, but grew on me after wearing it for an hour. The only thing I'm not sure about is the shortness of the sleeves.

I'm about 5'10, 155lbs and for me these are just a about the perfect t-shirts. Comfortable and cool looking. The only problem with AA is the way their sizes vary. I have two mediums and two smalls. The other medium is huge while the other is a bit too tight. The other small is actually bigger than the other medium. What's with that? If you're able to find the right size then this is an absolute killer shirt.

This shirt is personally the best fitting I have found thus far in my searches. I am 6'2.5, 170 lbs, fairly broad shoulders but slim athletic otherwise, no belly. I wear a 32W 34L pant, slim cut. Pardon the details, but it really would have helped me out, so I'll try to be thorough. Admittedly, I haven't looked at many brands, but I'm glad I went to A.apparel fairly early on. At first I tried out the 2001 jersey in M and L, but after washing and drying, the M was too tight and short, and the large still had way too much room around the waist, so I was stuck between sizes. Granted, I still use the large as a running shirt, but it looks sloppy if I'm going out. Next, I went to the 50-50 polyblend M (read that it fit 'taller' than the jersey). When I pulled it out of the bag, it fit a little long, but the chest/shoulder fit was perfect, modern but not bunched up in my armpits. The wash and dry brought it down to perfect length, ~2" below my belt (so I'm not showing my navel every time I raise my arm), suprisingly without tightening up around the torso. Sleeve length was also fine, didn't even notice it, which is the way you want it. I must also say I prefer the feel of the poly blend to the 100% cotton, it breathes, and feels very light on me, in a good way. You might want to double up in the winter, but that's better than having stuffy shirt in the summer. The fit also left me a little room, so that if I bulked up 5-10 lbs, I think it would still fit well. I can't comment on durability yet, as I've only had my shirts for a month or so, but so far so good. So if you're a slim and fit guy, 6'2"+, ~165-180 lbs, and need a modern fit tshirt with enough length to still fit great after more than one wash, and enough space to not crowd you chest/shoulders, I'd go for the 50-50 blend over the jersey cotton, in M if you're my size.

I'm 6-2 175 with a tall torso. It's hard to find a MED tall ,but these shirts fit pretty well for a MED Reg. If you have trouble finding shirts long enough but are slender this is a great shirt for you in a MED size. Even after I washed and dried on warm heat the shirt stayed a nice length (longer than a standard t-shirt anyway) Must be the poly blend. I recommend the darker colors. I got some white ones and for me they would only function as undershirts. They are just much to thin and shear for normal wearing. I will say that for poly cotton they are very soft and comfortable. Just very much on the thin side.

I bought these T-shirts for my son, 6 ft. tall, about 170 lbs., size medium. He asked me for them; he already knew he liked them very much. The fit is great; they look so good on him. He is twenty-something and the fit and look are very important to him.

For my part, I am pleased that they are made in the USA and I think that the french seam finish on the shoulders is first-rate!

First off, I'd like to say this shirt is really awesome. But my problem is the gap between the smalls and mediums. I'm 6' and 145 lbs and the small has a good length and it fits my waist/chest well. But the sleeves are way too short for my arms.

I've also purchased some shirts in medium. The sleeves were much better, but it was pretty baggy on my chest and didnt wrap around my waist as nice as the small. I wish there was a smaller difference in the S/M, but I guess I'll just try to bulk up for the medium.

This is the best T-Shirt ever. The first time I tried this on I could not get over how comfy and perfect the fit was.

I gave all my other T-Shirts to the poor and bought this in over 10 colours in XS. Fits me perfect.

Please add more colours, I would love to see a colour range similar to that of the 2001. I specifically want to see more light, bright, summer type colours.

Thanks AA.

Bought 1 each of the Standard 2001, BB401 & TR401 to compare quality and fit.

For me the BB401 wins hands down. Softer, better fit in all areas, didn't shrink as much as the other 2 (to be fair none shrunk a lot, but the BB401 the least so). 5*. More colours please. This is the best AA shirt currently being made.

alright so i ordered a bunch of these shirts, and i was kinda expecting the fit to be like the buy wearing the asphalt version (which is what i wanted). upon getting them i wore one and the fit is no where near that. idk if they changed it around or what but i got a large, and thats what i normally wear, and it was pretty loose on me, and if i had gotten anything smaller i would have looked like an idiot with a my shirt being short as hell. they actually have a worse fit than just the classic hanes white tees in my opinion. im just hoping that washing them one or twice might help. these things would be so much better if you made it a bit slimmer, slimmed the sleeves and shortened them, and added like an inch or two. and by the way, if your anywhere around 6 feet tall like me, your gonna want a large unless you like your shirts abnormally small, but thats just me. all in all the tee is really soft and feels comfortable, but the overall t shirt is overhyped and didnt meet my expectations. im still gonna wear them but im not gonna be overly happy about it.

The sleeves need to be more tailored like the body of the shirt! You can see what I am talking about if you at the model wearing the Heather Forest shirt. Maybe I'm alone on this, but the sleeves flaring out as much as they do make the shirt look goofy. Otherwise, it's a nice shirt. But please tighten up the sleeves!

The 50/50 shirt is the best T-Shirt that I own. I am a big man, 6'4" 230lbs, and this shirt is the only shirt that I have found that fits me well....I mean really well. Arms, neck, torso, everything is covered, and classy. Hard to find.

I scoffed at the price at first, but then I realized that I have been wearing t-shirts that are 10 years old or more. If the 50/50 tee lasts half as long, I'll be hooked for life. I am a fan!

it's a shirt of very high quality; everything about it fits perfectly and comfortably except for one EXTREMELY annoying detail--the neck hole is very small. i lift weights, but i wouldn't consider my neck to be above-average size. i find that the 25/25/50 shirts, for some reason, have a larger neck hole.

This is great shirt. However, I have one complaint. The sleeves flair out too much. I am 5'6" and 130lbs. A size small fits me like a glove except for the sleeves. The sleeves are disproportionately baggy. Thus making the shirt look goofy. I wish American Apparel would tailor the sleeves on this shirt better. Other than that the shirt is really nice. It is really soft and wrinkly resistant.

The BEST fitting shirt I've EVER had!!!
I'm 6'5" and about 170lbs (I look more like 140 though, very slim)... and my problem has always been with most shirt, that a L or XL fits in length but is far too wide (looking like a dress) and a M fits in width but isn't long enough. Moral of the story is if your a taller individual who's on the slimmer and more fit side then this is most definitely the basic T for you.

im 5' 8" about 130 pounds and I wear a large in these. granted I like my shirts on the non-tightish side, and not to long. they hang to about 3/4 over my fly on my jeans. Mediums in regular shirts are too small/not long enough. while larges are too wide for me but long enough. so it's more of a slimness between a medium and a large, and maybe a little bit longer than a large. but they fit perfect, super comfortable and they're the only shirts I ever wear now. I had 2 and I just ordered 8 more.

I own at least 2 in every color, but instead of adding more..... they are taking away colors! what gives??? Question for you guys -- which size should I get for a guy who is 5'11 (but with a long torso) and a muscular (broud/thick shoulders/chest/biceps) 220? Large, or XL? He likes his shirts on the closer-fitting side and not too baggy, but also wouldn't want it to be tight. I was leaning toward an XL, does that seem right, or would that be too long and baggy?

Thx!

For skinny people. I'm athletic, 5'7 165 lbs with a 30in waist. The small would be a perfect length but makes me look like I shop at the baby gap. The XL is the perfect chest and arm, but looks like I'm wearing a dress. Material rocks though, wish it was made in normal sizes.

I'm 6'3", 165lbs, the medium is one of the most comfortable, long-lasting shirts I've ever owned. It doesn't wrinkle, it's soft, its durable, and it's long enough for me. My only complaint is that most sites that sell printed tees don't stock these.

an absolute cracker of a shirt. for my mind, the most comfortable t-shirt going. would be great to have the same colour selection at the 2001 and ideally they would be about 2-3cm shorter in the body, but these just feel so light on and maintain their shape wash after wash. great work aa. i'm off to order some more.

I am 6'0, 160 lbs, size 40 chest and bought both a medium and large since i can on rare occasions wear a larges depending on the cut of the shirt and company. Would definitely recommend wearing a medium. The large is way too long and baggy for me. Like other people I would like to note that the shirt tends to run long going well past the belt line. Really soft and comfortable shirt.

WHY ISN'T THIS AA'S MAIN TEE?
September 26, 2008
1. Put up a pic of blueberry already! 2. WHY ISN'T THIS AA'S MAIN TEE? It's so much softer and better-constructed than the 2001! How come AA adds so many new, cool colors to the 2001's color list but barely any to the 50/50's??? I wish it was the 50/50 that had the 30+ colors instead of the 2001! You haven't lived until you've felt how soft the 50/50 is! The color stays better than the 2001, and wrinkles are no problem! With the 2001, if you wear it for 5 minutes and move an inch to the left, you've got wrinkles all day! With the 50/50, just hang it up for a few minutes and a shirt that lay crumpled under the bed for a week looks as smooth as one that just popped out of the drier! BUY IT NOW! ***And add more colors!!! TEAL, for one. Mint, aqua, poppy, $~SANGRIA~$, SUNSHINE, and ULTRAVIOLET!*** And make them available for wholesale, too!!! (I print shirts.)

This is the softest shirt I have ever worn. However, I find that it is actually a little too soft. If this shirt had a bit more thickness to it, it would be an even better shirt. These shirts also do run slim and long. So if you are an athletic 5'6" 136lbs like me, this shirt does not fit good.

My problem with the fit of these shirts is this. At 5'6" 136 lbs I find that the small is too tight. It has good length, great sleeve length and width, but the shirt is too tight around my chest. Also, since the shirt fits long, the shirt bunches up and wrinkles when I have it on. This is because the material clings to your body when you're wearing it.

So I bought a medium, the medium has the right width for my chest but is too big everywhere else.

For my build of 5"6 136lbs to 140lbs the small T-shirt is good if you want to look buff or slightly emo. I would love to see American Apparel make the small T-shirt slightly wider. I would kill to get a half inch of more room on the this small T.

Other than that I cannot get a size that fits me nicely this is a great shirt. It is basically wrinkle proof and the shrink is negligible.

Please AA make this small a little wider!!

so pretty much, these shirts are the softest and most comfortable shirts ever. the colors are so vibrant, especially the heather lake blue, forest, and plum, and I'm really happy with my purchase.

however, i did find the shirts to be a little long for me. i ordered smalls, and im 5'7" and a skinny 120 pounds. for anyone as skinny as me, but a tad taller, a small would be absolutely PERFECT for you

Hey, this might be the only tshirt on the market that fits for lean muscular body. Normal tshirts are same width at shoulders as waist, causing them to balloon at my belly, adding like 12 inches to my waist. The poly material in here is enough to hug my waist, yet not so tight as to be quite ridiculous. Size S for 28-30 waist.

I don't even wear belt, since that makes my belly stick out making it look like I have a fat stomach.

I have 6 of these shirts.
Wonderful color and extremely comfortable. I am 5'6'' and all my shirts are medium. They fit me fine, however my body type is athletic; my friend is 6'1'' and he wears a medium as well but he is thin, which fits him perfectly. Note that the shirts run taller than the 2001 Fine Jersey version. Other than that - a GREAT tee. The Poly-Cotton hardly shrinks and looks a lot less worn after several washes than the 2001 Fine Jersey version. My only complaint...

I'm 5'9", 145 lbs. Got the Small in this. The neck is high, shoulders fit loose and the hips a bit tight, but what I did was cut about 2 more inches out of the neck, another inch off the arms, and a bit off the bottom hem. Now it is feminine and natural-looking, and it makes me feel casually elegant. My favorite color in the forest/plum/sky blue pack is the sky blue- it is so bright and fresh looking. Hi everyone, I am 5'6", 138lbs, and about a 33" chest. I just purchased this shirt in a small. I believe that it will have the "slim, but loose feel" i like. However, I am worried that the shirt being a small, it will not have the length. I like a little length on my shirt. I don't like to wear my shirts wear my belt would be. A little lower than that, you know what I mean? I've read comments from 6"ft dudes saying the small fit like a glove. Could anyone confirm that the small will have the length I am looking for?

In a word... niiiiiiiiiiiiiiiice. I've got about 10 of these bad boys. Once you wear one, everything else will feel like sandpaper. So what is so cool about them? First off - the cut is amazing. If you are wide shouldered with a narrow waist, these things are great. Next - the 50 cotton/poly blend is frigging amazing - not only is it soft, but you can burn the shit out of it in the dryer with no fear of it shrinking like Bush's approval ratings. the colors are very vibrant and hold up well to multiple washes. Finally - these shirts are versatile - I wear them to the gym and also to work (assuming you don't have a suit and tie ass-hat job) - the perfect geek wear.

I'm male, 5'10" (177 cm), around 155 lbs (70 kg), and athletic build. I bought a Small green version of this shirt.

You're not going to like what I say in this review, because it seems to be different from what Aaron said just previously. This shirt, a size small, fits me slightly too tight around the chest. It's not so small that it's comically funny when I wear it, but it definitely a bit tight around the chest. I look like I'm trying too hard to look "buff", which I hate. Hopefully, it'll stretch out a bit.

The shirt goes down to my groin when pulled so that the shirt is fully extended, but since the material is stretchy and a bit tight, the bottom of the shirt never dangles that low, sitting at around my hips. This makes the length perfect fine, as it doesn't look or feel too long when I wear it.

I bought this shirt in Heather Forest, and the photos on the website don't do it justice. The Heather forest is a gorgeously rich dark green, not at all washed out like it looks on the website. It's definitely the nicest colour I've seen come out of AA, and I own a lot of AA t-shirts.

I can imagine this one becoming my favourite when/if it loosens up a bit. My favourite AA t-shirt right now is the older Melange Jersey Gym t-shirt with the contrasting collar, just to give you an idea of what I like.

I've looked long and hard for years to find a plain looking t-shirt that has a nice fit and is well made. These 50/50 shirts have a narrow long fit that isn't too narrow or too long....if that makes any sense. Their composition allows them to be very light resulting in an abnormally high amount of comfort. I really cant find anything to fault the shirt on.

simply a great t-shirt; a bit more form-fitting than the cotton t, but breaks in great and gets to be super soft after a while, also great for any athletic activity where you're going to be hanging/going out afterwards b/c the poly dries fast and keeps you a little warmer than full cotton

I was interested in trying this shirt out based on the reviews but I hate buying something without trying it on first so I took a drive to Philly and tried one on. Man this is a great t-shirt. I'm 6'2" and 225lbs and the xl was what fit me. This t-shirt just hangs on me perfectly (not too tight) perfect length and extremely comfortable. It stretches with me better than a 100% cotton shirt, So comfortable that I can sleep in it (and I normally don't like to sleep with a shirt on). I have not washed it yet but I am hoping that the 50/50 composition will prevent a lot of shrinking and keep it looking and feeling great. If it holds up it will be well worth the $16. I went with black; I have to agree with other posts that more colors would be nice.

Excellent shirt first off!
-Replying to Marc- Throw these in the dryer and they are fine! Extremely minimal shrinkage, the tag says dry on low, but I often put them in on normal and they are fine.
As for the Medium/Large, I'd go with whatever your normal size is, it's worked fine for me that way.

These t-shirts are the best freakin' t-shirts in the world. I'm tall, real tall, and skinny and and I now can purchase a t-shirt that fits in the body (length), but isn't way too big in the in the circumference of the body...dig?

I've bought them in my local store (Nashville) and I've purchased the three pack online...I wish I could pick and choose which three colors I wanted to buy though...sigh.

If'n you a big boy, and there is nothing wrong with that, you might consider the fact that they are fitted and to order accordingly.

So after searching for the perfect t-shirt, I think I have come very close. First impressions: the shirt has amazingly vivid color and a very soft feel. Being 6'5" and around 165 lbs., I have a very hard time finding shirts that are slender but long enough. I decided to go with a medium and I think that was a good choice. Although this shirt is not SUPER long, its about the closest thing to a perfect shirt as us tall folk will ever get. I am very impressed so far, but we shall see how they hold up during the wash.

Strange. The shirt in 'gold' is the most gorgeous, comfortable shirt one could ever imagine, 5 stars, incredible. The shirt in 'white' is a rather different material and even tends to loose that shape on the arms once its been worn for an hour or so.

I know nothing of the other colors. The gold for some reason is superior to the white. The white is still superior to any other shirts I've come across.

I love the feel of these shirts!!! I've bought 9. Wow. I'm a big t-shirt fan and these are the best I've ever worn, super soft but durable. My only slight complaint is that I've ordered two different sizes--because I wanted a looser fit for some t's-- and the L seems way larger than the M.

I love the 50/50 tee's... black especially. But I thought I should try to diversify with some other colors, so I ordered the 3 pack (black, gray, white). The sizes of each seemed to fit slightly different (some bigger than others, I like mine snug). Washing them seemed to fix this some, so it's okay.

The white tee however was a total let down. The tee is completely see-though/opaque/transparent... not good for a guy with a hairy chest. I'll never wear the tee unless I'm around the house. I also ordered the Plum purple 50/50 and it's awesome, my new favorite, after all, purple is the new black.

Perfect fit, stretch, retains shape and is buttery soft. I'm usually a medium in most shirts and this one fits like a dream. The 2001 shirt doesn't fit me at all - medium is too tight/short and the large just look like a dress on me. The 50/50 is the definitive american apparel t-shirt.

You know, for a brand that prides itself so much on the fit of its clothing, you'd think they'd be able to make their sizes consistent. I have so many of these, but no two fit alike. And on top of that, I only like the fit of one of them. It gets three stars on reputation alone.

This shirt is nice because it feels a lot like many of my other shirts that are 20 years old. I also like that it is a long shirt because i am 6'3" but I wish it was a tighter fit. All though the shirt feels nice it is poorly constructed. I just purchased this shirt about a week ago and it already has two nickel size holes on the sleeve where the stitching has come out.

While these shirts fit great, American Apparel needs to start representing the colors better online. I bought the Evergreen tee, and I can honestly say it looks nothing like it does in the picture. I'm impressed with the light, soft feel of the shirt. However, there were loose threads on a Heather Forest tee I bought, leading to holes at the armpits too quickly. These are thin, so I would wear a hoody over it or layer something when it's the weather's cooler.

it seems most of the others here need to gain some weight ASAP (6'2" and 140 lbs?!). I am 5'7" and 165lbs, and this shirt is extremely flattering in terms of its athletic fit, especially in the shoulder area. I got a Medium, and i don't find it too long as it seems to rest on the hips due to the stretchiness. good shirt.

the one complaint is that the thin weave means that nerps are very distinguishable underneath. double layering helps

Don't be afraid to order on the small size with this shirt. I am 6'2" and very thin around 140 pounds but I was afraid to get a small in this shirt even though the sizing chart showed that a small would be best for me. So I got a medium. It is a nice size after washing and drying but a small would be better. So my advice is follow the sizing chart. If you are tall the reason you are probably hesitant to buy on the smaller side is because of the experience of buying clothes built for people who were either short and thin or tall and hefty. Finally there is a company making clothes for those of us that are tall and thin!!!
I hope they will be broadening their clothing line in the future!
