American Apparel Experience
I just recently read an article in the Wall Street Journal about American Apparel. This publicity for the company made me more interested in the store itself and took my particular interest in the company's advertising. I read in the article that CEO Dov Charney's ad "blurred the lines between fashion photography and soft porn," and that quote drew me to the ads and images on this website. It's true that sex sells, but Charney's ads are racy in a unique way; unlike the polished ads we have seen for other companies, such as Calvin Klein. American Apparel's ads and commercials are raw and more real. To me, they are not particularly sexy, but are more surprising.

After checking out the website, I decided to go to the American Apparel store nearest to where I live. The colors of the clothes were very flashy and head-turning - exactly the company's intention, I'm sure. I was shocked to see that one of the sales-ladies was wearing a very skimpy outfit and looked very much like the female models in the ads. The racy aspect of the company really stood out to me, and made me more interested in the brand, due to the unique and captivating personality of Charney.

Legalize L.A.
Hi i was looking around and i saw your Legalize LA shirts and let me just say that the message that you guys put on the description brought tears to my eyes, i say this because my parents are immigrants and they have worked very hard and just like them there are millions more, so by doing this you guys are raising awareness to this issue that needs to be resolved. And i just want to say THANK YOU! for looking at immigrants as the human beings that they are and not label them because of their legal status... and let me tell you i will buy these shirts as gifts so that everyone can show some support.

True American Ideals
I recently heard a story on NPR about your company's support of American immigrants' rights. Thank you. My family has been in America for several generations. My father's grandparents immigrated from Germany, and my mother's from Ireland. Immigrants have founded this country, built this country, and now they maintain this country.

I have recently committed to a tour with the Peace Corps, and as a result I need two weeks worth of professional clothing. I was planning on finding the cheapest clothes possible, most likely at Wal-Mart or Target. But, after hearing about your noble and patriotic labor practices, I will buy my new wardrobe at American Apperal.

Photography and Models
Your photos, unretouched, of ladies and men in their natural repose, no air brush, I see scars, a little soft belly on the ladies and men, and just people pictured as people make it much more appealing and pleasant to look at; a more realisitic way of modeling your clothes rather than on high priced, air brushed, artificially augmented people. Thanks, mans the models more appealing, senuous and pleasant to loo at.

Stand Against Fur
I will shop at your stores even more now in hearing your stand against fur-thank you! I base my buying decisions and stores that I will shop from on their stands such as this. So glad to hear your recent decision!!!! I have always loved your clothes and I can now morally and ethically love them even more!!

Fur Stand
Born Free USA united with Animal Protection Institute reported that they have added American Apparel to the list of compassionate retailers recognized by Consumers for a Fur Free Society.

I applaud American Apparel for taking this compassionate stand against fur fashion! I and my family will now feel comfortable shopping at your stores.

Amazing Merchandise
I have worked in the fashion industry for the past 4 years. I have worked for a huge screen print company in the city of Commerce. Being in this business we dont always have the luxury of cutting and sewing all our production, we sometimes have to order finished goods to make things flow in a timely manor.
