This is one of American Apparel's first full page ads, on the back cover of the Montreal Mirror in March, 2003. The image was taken by company founder Dov Charney of his grandfather, whom he called Zaida. The ad came out the day before Zaida's death, and in Dov's last conversation with him before he passed he woke Zaida up and showed him the ad.
